Paul Peeters is Professor Sustainable transport for tourism at the Breda university of Applied Sciences since 2002. His main research topics are environmental impacts of tourism transport and specifically the impact of tourism on climate change. He published hundreds of scientific papers, book chapters, reports, and articles. Air transport causes more than half of all climatic impacts of tourism, and as Paul has a degree in aircraft engineering, he also explores technical solutions to aviation’s climate problem. Paul did research projects for the European commission, the European Parliament, the United Nations (both environment and tourism), the Dutch Government, tour operators, and NGO’s. He has been a consultant for ICSA at the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) CAEP working group 3, that defined a fuel efficiency standard for aircraft.
